Mission Trips 2011!PCOTW has a long history of youth mission trips. We pick locations that offer new experiences, provide opportunities to build relationships and grow in faith. We are always excited about non-PCOTW members coming with us. Each year we have a number of friends who join us and return for the next year! In 2009 we began offering weekend middle school mission trips. These trips are wonderful first-time introductions to mission trips. We started with a weekend at Presbyterian Clearwater Forest helping them prepare for a summer of campers! In 2010 a group traveled to Carver County to help our neighbors - stayed at a Camp Tanadoona and helped His House with their thrift shop. In addition to the "work", we had great opportunities to play! Our high school mission trips last a week and are generally a bit farther out. In 2009 we helped New Orleans rebuild, repairing homes and exploring the amazing culture. In 2010 we traveled to Winnipeg to help with the Winnipeg Inner City Mission where we provided assistance to their children's programs and visited a Medicine Camp to help pick medicine and learn more about aboriginal culture. St. James Presbyterian was our home away from home. The trips are primarily supported by fundraisers (State Fair Park & Ride, PCOTW Annual Cook-off, Silent Auction) and donations from the congregation. This allows for all youth who want to participate to go without needing to worry about the cost of the trip. There is a small fee associated with each trip, however limited scholarships are available. Spending money is covered by the youth and/or their families. Middle School Mission Trip Our 2011 trip is yet to be determined. We are looking for ideas! Check back after December for final information. High School Mission Trip Where: Belize When: July 10-16, 2011 Registration/Fee Deadline: Dec. 1st & Jan 12th (registration packet to be posted in Sept.)
Please join us on Sept. 29th at 12:00pm in Ling Hall for a "short" information meeting.
We are going to Belize!!! The youth have chosen this destiation and we will be going with Praying Pelican Missions. As this trip is a bit "father out" and costing more than normal, we are having to up our fundraising and increase our fee (however it is still low compared to similar opportunities!)
We currently have few details available to share at this point as specific locations and activities are not yet available. We will be sleeping on the floor of a church/school/community center and bathrooms will be available. What will it look like? This all depends on what is available and where we will be working...which will not know until closer to the trip. Please return to this page in the next few weeks as the registration packet and other information will be posted soon.
Youth and leaders will need a passport! Belize Mission Trip Registration Packet Mission Trip Fundraisers!
In order to keep out-of-pocket fees low for our youth, we are increasing the number of fundraisers! In addition to those below, please watch for information in Connections and the Newsletter.
