Welcome to PCOTW’s Youth Program!We have a lot going on! All are welcome to attend as they can to make new friends, deepen their faith, increase their knowledge, and have fun! Most of our activities take place in the "youth corner", four rooms dedicated to the youth program. Please see our online Youth Calendar, the main PCOTW calendar and visit our Facebook page “PCOTW! Youth Christian Education2009-2010 is a transitional year where we are giving our dedicated teachers a break and bringing new teachers in to share their particular gifts and interests. Youth will be assisting in facilitating some classes. Many of our classes will begin with a main topic, then have discussion or activities based on grade level. Our classes use various methods and media to explore the topics and address the particular learning needs of our youth. Recent topics have included: Music & Scripture, Ghana & our Sister Congregation, Children’s March, and Our Gifts & Callings. ÂWinter/Spring 2010 Topics: Jan. 3 to Feb. 21                                            6-8th grade, Weird Bible Stories - Come and learn about weird stories in the Bible! You won’t want to miss this!9th-12th grades, Different Faiths - We will be exploring different faith traditions presented by guest speakers. Feb. 28, Guest Speaker: Mike Schroeder - Mike will share with us his faith journey. Mar. 7 – May 16, CreationWhy is it important for us to be stewards of God’s creation? Through Bible study, art, guest speakers, and other activities, we will explore our relationship with God’s creation. May 23, Surprise!                                                                         ÂFeb. 14 & May 2, No Youth Christian Education  Current plans provide for 2010-2011 to consist of two classes: 6-7th grades and 10-12th grades. The 6-7th grades will explore the Bible and the 10-12th grades will study various topics of faith and life. ConfirmationWe are in the midst of rescheduling our confirmation program. Next year (Sept. 2010 to May 2011) our current 7th and 8th graders will participate in a one year confirmation program. It will be based on experiencing God in our lives, but will also learn the nuts and bolts of our faith and church community.    SLAMWednesdays, 6:30-7:30pm6-12th grades, B-12Following our church wide dinners in Ling Hall, youth gather in B-12 for discussion and fun. We share updates about our lives, discuss various topics of interest, study the Bible, and participate in a fun activity! ÂSLAM PlusFriday-Saturdays, 2-3 times a month6-12th gradesCome have fun and help others! We participate in a variety of activities from paint ball to volunteering at Feed My Starving Children. ÂMission TripsWe have two exciting mission trips planned for the summer of 2010. Please see our Mission Trips page for more information. |
