Mission Trip 2008 — A Great Success

July 2008
Installing shingles on Day 4

The Presbyterian Church of the Way's annual youth mission trip alternates between a nearby location, such as Chicago, and a distant location, such as the Appalachia communities of Kentucky. Our youth have a long history of undertaking summer mission trips to provide fellowship, hope, the love of Christ, and to share their faith with the residents of the community.

This year's very rewarding mission trip experience was to Pikeville, Kentucky, to provide home repair assistance to the residents of that Appalachia community. Sponsored by Youth on Mission, our eight youth and five adult leaders were assigned two construction projects for the week: 1) the repairing and re-roofing of a house, and 2) the remodeling of a bathroom in a double-wide trailer. In addition to completing those projects, our youth had the opportunity to participate in fellowship, devotions and worship with over 250 youth from all over the United States.

Our PCOTW mission group brought necessary tools and supplied materials for the two projects. The group was housed at a nearby college dormitory. Please be sure to check back for more details and photos of the mission trip once the group has had a chance to unpack.

If you are interested in joining our youth group or learning more about our mission trip, please contact Josh Koopmeiners, Christian Woeltge, Kate Lust or Christine Hjelle via the church office.
