Worship through Music

September 2008
Worship through Music

There are many ways to praise God through music at Presbyterian Church of the Way. Our musical ensembles include a traditional chancel choir, a contemporary praise group, children's choirs, an adult bell choir, and most recently we've added a brass ensemble.

For additional information or questions about our choirs and musical ensembles, please contact our Music Director, Russ Carlson.

Chancel Choir

The Chancel Choir is open to all singers from grade 9 through senior citizens and assists with worship leadership at the 8:45 a.m. service from September through May. Music selections for this choir include everything from Baroque to contemporary. Rehearsal time from September through May is 7:30 - 9:00 p.m. on Wednesdays in the sanctuary.

Spirit Sounds

Spirit Sounds

Spirit Sounds, our contemporary music praise team, is instrumental in leading worship at the 11:00 a.m. Sunday service from September through May, as well 2 or 3 services during the summer worship schedule. Spirit Sounds is presently 12 singers strong, with acoustic and bass guitar players, and pianist. Additional instrumentalists – violin, flute, drum and rain stick – are often found assisting the sound of the ensemble.

Rehearsals from September through May are held from 6:10 - 7:25 p.m. on Wednesday in the sanctuary.

Bells of Praise

Bell Choir

Bells of Praise is an adult bell ringing ensemble that is open to any adult wishing to ring. A rehearsal schedule for the fall, which for this past year was on Monday evenings, has yet to be determined.

Children's Choirs

Children's Choir

The children's choirs' rehearsal schedule has been postponed to January due to choir director availability. Please check back for forthcoming news.

Brass Ensemble

This in-house ensemble made up of trumpets, French horns, tuba, and trombones began for the Easter 2008 season and will again come together in the fall. Rehearsal day and time is not yet determined.
