Knit–Purl–Pray

Knit-Purl-Pray Shawls

Knit–Purl–Pray continues to grow in size, stature and service to the Presbyterian Church of the Way community. Come join us whether you are a beginner, intermediate, or advanced knitter. We have a basic knitting pattern, based upon the trinity of knit 3, purl 3, that we share for our Church Ministry.

Members meet monthly to knit prayer shawls, lap shawls, baptismal shawls and scarvers. They are given as an expression of love and support to members and friends of our congregation in times of joy, concern, celebration, or sorrow.

The group began with four knitters in 2005, has grown to forty-one (41) members and, to date, has given 160 prayer shawls and scarves. We meet during September-May on either the first Saturday or Sunday from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m., and June-August on the first Wednesday from 6:30 - 8:00 p.m. Of course, we do have treats and a lot of chatter. Please come, we would love to have you join us!

Knitting a Shawl

Since we started praying, knitting, and purling together, we have presented 110 prayer shawls, 2 prayer lap shawls, 31 prayer scarves, and 17 baptismal shawls to PCOTW members and our extended family and friends.

Last November, the members' prayers were focused on a special project. Many of the group made squares, which were pieced together as a special prayer afghan for Rev. Todd Allen's installation.

Please contact Linda Lundeen or Barb McKay for additional information or possible recipients.
