Since 1999, we have built 14 complete homes and parts of 8 others, providing housing for more than 103 people.

What is Habitat for Humanity?

Habitat for Humanity International is a nonprofit, ecumenical Christian housing ministry. Habitat seeks to eliminate poverty housing and homelessness from the world, and to make decent shelter a matter of conscience and action. Habitat invites people of all backgrounds, races and religions to build houses together in partnership with families in need. Since its founding in 1976 by Millard and Linda Fuller, Habitat for Humanity International has built and rehabilitated more than 250,000 houses with families in need, becoming a true world leader in addressing the issues of poverty housing.

Habitat provides home ownership opportunities for low-income families. Working under the faith-based principle that no profit should be gained from assisting those in need, Habitat for Humanity charges no interest on the homes that it sells. "If you lend money to one of my people among you who is needy, charge him no interest" (Exodus 22:25).

In operation since 1985, Twin Cities Habitat for Humanity has built more than 700 homes in Minneapolis, St. Paul, and the surrounding suburbs.
