Personal Expressions of Faith

Presbyterian Church of the Way is pleased to provide a series of personal expressions of faith to our Brothers and Sisters in Christ. These are intended as both a gift and an opportunity:

• A gift of expressions of faith from members who have responded to the question, "What does my faith and my church mean to me?"
• An opportunity to enter into prayer and reflect on all God's blessings and your personal relationship with Jesus Christ.

We hope these expressions of faith will assist in your personal faith journey and involvement in the one mission that we all share — that the love of Jesus Christ might be known and God's will be done through us.

The personal expression of faith will be changed on a monthly basis and we welcome our viewers to return to this page for updates. You may also be interested in the PCUSA Devotions and Readings suggested for daily meditation and prayers.

Reading of the Day:  Malechi 3:10

"Bring the full tithe into the storehouse, so that there may
be food in my house, and thus put me to the test, says the
LORD of hosts; see if I will not open the windows of heaven
for you and pour down for you an overflowing blessing."

I believe that Jesus Christ is my Lord and Savior.

I believe that if I trust in Him he will guide me to the paths that HE wants me to follow. It is my responsibility to serve my Lord. Jesus has a mission for each of us.

I believe that Jesus died for our sins so that we may have everlasting life. This has a lot to do with the Good News of the Gospels.

I believe that we are saved by grace alone and that it is not possible to earn salvation by doing good works.

I believe that we should forgive others just as God forgives us.

I believe love is one of God's great gifts to us and we must pass it on. One of my favorite Bible chapters is 1 Corinthians 13.

I believe that "We are to go into all of the world and preach the Good News to everyone, everywhere."  For many of us this means to support our local church and its missions.

I believe that Jesus is with us always and gives us extra support when we experience difficult situations. I will forever praise God.

Prayer of the Day

Lord, help me to remain strong in my beliefs.
Keep my eyes fixed only on You. You alone
are my God and my Savior. Amen.

"O magnify the Lord with me, and let us exalt
His name together"

Forty some years ago my husband and I joined PCOTW — before there was a church building. We had meetings at the Pastor's home and various members hosted some of the meetings and social gatherings. Church services were held in a school gymnasium. We've come a long way since those early days but there are still challenges to be met.

I am enouraged when I see young people joining our church, having babies, and bringing the children to Sunday school, Bible school, music groups, etc. With all the other worldly, outside influences, it is important that we have strong, viable programs to help our young people grow in their relationship to God and to know Jesus as their Savior. When I see the kids grow into adults and learn of their accomplishments I am happy to have been part of a church program that has, hopefully, given them strong beliefs to take them through their life's journey.

Before my husband died, he encouraged me to continue to support PCOTW with time, work and money. The love and kindness of the pastors and friends have been a source of strength at difficult times.

Prayer of the Day

Thank you God, for giving us the
faith, hope and courage needed to do the work
you expect from us. We ask for your love and
understanding when there are difficult challenges
to be met and circumstances we do not understand.
Help us to live and grow together in Your name. Amen.
