What is the Holy Hammers?
Holy Hammers is an ecumenical partnership of 13 congregations working through Habitat for Humanity
to help bring affordable housing to our community. The Holy Hammers completed four weeks of
construction with Habitat for Humanity in 1999 and sponsored an entire house (seven weeks) in 2000.
Since 1999, we have built 14 complete homes and parts of 8 others, providing housing for more than
103 people.
The current Holy Hammers congregations are: Centennial United Methodist (Roseville), Corpus Christi
Catholic Church (Roseville), Christ the King Lutheran (White Bear Lake), Falcon Heights United Church
of Christ, Incarnation Lutheran (Shoreview), Lutheran Church of the Resurrection (Shoreview), New
Brighton United Church of Christ, North Como Presbyterian Church (Roseville), Our Savior’s Lutheran

What is Habitat for Humanity?
Habitat for Humanity International is a nonprofit Christian
housing ministry that works both to eliminate poverty housing around the world and to make adequate
housing a matter of conscience and action. Habitat for Humanity provides home ownership opportunities
for low-income families. Working under the faith-based principle that no profit should be gained from
assisting those in need, Habitat for Humanity charges no interest on the homes that it sells. "If you
lend money to one of my people among you who is needy…charge him no interest" (Exodus 22:25).
Millard Fuller founded Habitat for Humanity in 1976. Since then more than 100,000 houses have been
built or renovated, housing more than 500,000 people. The Twin Cities affiliate began more than 15
years ago, and more than 250 families have purchased their own Habitat homes throughout Minneapolis,
St. Paul and the surrounding suburbs.
